Anna Cathenka led a troubled childhood, the daughter of a single parent family after her mother was killed during a secret service mission for the MI6, she lived an unusual lifestyle, rarely settling in one place due to her father's employment in the military. Perhaps it was the lack of a female role model, or the inability to make long-term connections with her peers that lead to Anna's cold personality, as it is clear from researching her background that Anna was seemingly incapable of intimacy, wracking up a string of short-term, disastrous relationships with both men and women.

At the onset of the zombie apocalypse, Anna was studying criminology at Oxford University: it is apparent that she was brilliantly intelligent, often finding it frustrating when her sharp mind was coupled with her lack of inter-personal skills. She travelled to York during the early stages of the apocalypse to find her father, using her natural cunning to survive zombie attacks, as well as the learnt skills her father had taught her from his military training. Sadly, her father was mauled to death by a five year old girl two days after she arrived in York and Anna had to find refuge in an abandoned house, as the outbreak was now so bad that long-distance travel became nigh-on impossible.

Several weeks later she realised two film students were living in the neighbouring house, afraid to leave and hence starving to death. These were Stephen and Alistair, co-stars of ‘Ablogalypse Now'. After making them shower, she let them take refuge in her well-stocked and secure home, and tried to teach them how to defend themselves against zombies, with no real luck. After being eaten by a lesser-seen running zombie, Anna herself became one of the damned that she had worked so hard to defeat.

However, it was not all bad news: free from the emotional chains of life, Anna was able to find love with a young, zombie male and can now be seen in a post-death state of true romance, feasting on the brains of the living with her beau.
